Ride, Captain, Ride
I rode 22 miles to get this picture. That's right, 44 miles roundtrip to shoot a pair of socks in a flowerbed!
The next day, I rode 17 miles to get this shot. 34 roundtrip miles of gorgeous red and orange trees beneath heavenly blue skies, all to see roses thriving in the middle of October and in the midst of autumn gold.
This second ride also was an opportunity to remember what veterans have done for me. I've been wondering what lies behind the "War Memorial Rose Garden" sign all summer long. I finally investigated, and I was amazed at the beauty and tranquility I found within the garden. I shared more photos in yesterday's Wordless Wednesday.
May I never take my freedom for granted.
Why ride? Why drive when the weather is so perfect and the scenery so picturesque? I wouldn't mind if this lovely prelude to winter continues long into November!

Yay, socks! I've been attempting to knit more socks. I wish we had that kind of weather here in So Cal. Gloomy and rainy right now. Thankfully, not too cold though!
ReplyDeleteWhy drive? Cuz I don't think I can ride a bike anymore! I think I'd rather walk, though. Haha.
Sounds like a perfectly good reason to me! Great socks. What yarn do you use for your socks?
ReplyDeleteYulian, I think you're sending your So Cal gloomy and rainy to us tomorrow. Just in time for the full moon. Gee, thanks!!! :)
ReplyDeleteJen, I use clearance sock yarn. Ha ha! It's the only kind I can afford. This is OnLine Holiday Color. I don't think you can get that line of colors anymore, but there are several other OnLine clearance lines at Little Knits and Webs. Great stuff!
