My irises survived all the late snows! All were planted last year; only one bloomed last year, and they say that's normal. Many varieties of perennial flowers do not bloom the first year.
Four more varieties have yet to bloom, but the stalks seem healthy and happy. So, more surprises next year??? I hope so!
Wow! These are gorgeous! Love the blue one (8th photo).
ReplyDeleteThank you, Charlotte! I'm not sure yet which one is my favorite, and two of them didn't even bloom this year, so I won't know until next year. :)
DeleteSure in full bloom indeed. glad they were able to take seed with all the crummy snow that didn't seem to want to go
ReplyDeleteThe late snow was not so fun to deal with while it was falling, Pat, but I think the plants must not have minded. Didn't lose a single one to that hard freeze!
DeleteWowie zowie - I'm sorry these were done when we were there - would have loved to see them!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you missed them, too, Sue. Maybe next time you come, you can catch the new day lilies in full bloom!
