I must be crazy, always trying to grow tropical plants in Colorado!
One of my bosses went to Hawaii right before school started this year because her oldest son will be graduating from high school in May. She brought home several fresh pineapples and shared them at the office.
I'd read an internet article about growing pineapples at home, and I decided to give it a try. I asked if I could have one of the pineapple crowns. "Take them all, if you want," was her enthusiastic reply.
One particular article on how to grow a pineapple at home said it could take several weeks for the crown to root and several years for the plant to flower.
My pineapple must be in a hurry! It began rooting in just a couple of days, and within three months, it had tripled in size!
Bonus: Pineapple plants make multiple blue flowers before they fruit!
Should be one big pineapple by the sounds of it. Never thought of growing them inside.
ReplyDeleteYou're a tropical green thumb. It's fun to watch what you come up with.
