Bird Crazy
She did this for three hours straight tonight, clear into the dusk. Does anyone know what she was doing or why???

Dusty words lying under carpets,
seldom heard, well must you keep your secrets
locked inside, hidden deep from view?

I'm pretty sure that "she" is a he, and that was a mating display trying to impress a female.
ReplyDeleteWow, Meg, that's pretty amazing! When she... or I guess he finally quit, I wondered if the reflection in the window made he or she think there was competition, and he or she was defending his or her turf...
DeleteReminds me of fledglings reluctantly learning to fly. They flutter their wings a lot, accidently get airborne and scream for their parents. I raised a barn swallow that did that when he was learning to fly. If he fluttered out of sight he would get panicky and yell his tiny beak off.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Franciss Kay. At first, I thought she or he was trying to fly into the trees reflected in the window. But he or she was behaving like a fledgling. The very first time I noticed him or her, before he or she started hitting the window, I thought it was a plump hummingbird because the little wings were going so fast!
DeleteOh, and he or she is back at it this morning before the sun even comes up!!!
ReplyDeletemy guess would be that he/she is looking for a mate, but not sure.
