Last week's little gem of a snowflake doesn't necessarily need to be stiffened, and it works just as well with yarn or even tarn or plarn! Work a bunch up in different colors and join as you go, and presto! Instant flower table-topper, shawl, afghan or even sewing/quilting inset!
Some crocheters have asked or may have wondered why I would need 90-some-odd colors of hand-dyed crochet thread and why I keep dyeing even though I haven't used up my stash.
Life does not come in 12 colors only!
I really ought to join or start a motif WIP (unfinished project) challenge. My collection shall soon outnumber my unfinished quilts!!!
I call this collection my Blizzard.
I'm crocheting up a storm Until the weather gets warm; Just look at what my drifts become When snowflakes number more than one!
Boy, was that ever a trip down Memory Lane!!! Some of those older projects, I don't even have the yarn for anymore! I donated it to a senior center in Colorado Springs several years ago.
Lizard asked if I plan to sell all those old projects, as is, on Etsy. Hmmm... Perhaps that's a pretty good idea!
I realized while looking up all these old projects why many of my snowflake motif projects don't get finished. I do a new snowflake pattern every week. That takes up time that could go toward finishing motif projects, quilts, photo editing, book writing, or perhaps even some yard work...
As a result, heavy contemplation is going into how Snowflake Mondays might look after my Decade Snowflake Monday anniversary this autumn.
You may do whatever you'd like with flower flakes you make from this pattern, but you may not sell or republish the pattern. Thanks, and enjoy!
Finished Size: 3 inches from point to point when made with size 10 crochet thread

NOTE: To make motifs with yarn or other string substitute, use hook suitable for the size of medium being used, such as size B hook for fingering yarn, size E or F hook for worsted, or size K or larger for plarn or tarn.

Here are some potential motif layouts I crafted many years ago.
Finish: I dabbed a tiny drop of multipurpose glue (NOT the kind that washes out) on the back of each motif center and rubbed in, leaving no rough edges and allowing to dry thoroughly, to protect the magic ring during washings. I've had rug magic rings disassemble in the wash and now run a sewing machine straight stitch with matching thread all the way around the center of motifs for yarn and multiple yarn strand wearable and home projects such as rugs.
Assembled motifs may be blocked if desired. I was able to finger-shape my project with just a few little pulls and stretches. But it's not done yet. I plan to add it to my motif WIP pile make it much bigger!
Hi i love all crochet patterns but where can i find the patterns for the one's at the top and work downwards
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've added links to the ones that have patterns. Just click on the photo, and it should take you directly to the pattern.
DeleteSure many a color and many a way to use them, which you have down. That is a lot of butterflies.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pat! Just wait until you see the 3D owls... (That's a lot of tiny eyeballs!!!!!!!!!!)
DeleteYeah! I have two big boxes of embroidery thread that i don't know what to make. Going to try it out and see how much a skein will make. I'll post a picture when I make a few!
ReplyDeleteOh, Patty! I cannot wait to see what you create!!! I bet it's going to be lovely!!!
