This panel got tacked onto this quarter's WIP list because I needed a boy baby quilt fast. Then I learned my new nephew is actually going to be a niece, and she's due NEXT month instead of last month. I've put together a different quilt for that little bundle of joy now, but I've still been itching to get stitching on this colorless masterpiece.
Why not add a little color to the back??? Or a lot of color...
The new quilt back is entirely from stash. You probably can't tell from the photos, but the sashing is Moda Grunge. I thought that might be more fun than plain black.
After I got done piecing the 10-inch blocks with their sashing together, the back is just a tiny bit bigger than the back. Which is fine when you aren't in love with the borders. I didn't want to loose a bit of that Grunge!
I measured the back on my longarm, and I could still comfortably quilt this with another three inches or so on each side. So now I'm playing with the quilt top, then I may have to play again with the quilt back. I'm really liking how the project looks so far!
