Today's snowflake was something I saw in my head while I was waiting for a work Zoom conference call to begin. I did not have to participate in this particular call, just listen, so I decided I'd better work up the pattern really quick while I could still remember it. I lose so many ideas because I can't stop to write them down or draw a mock-up right when the inspiration hits.
You may do whatever you'd like with snowflakes you make from this pattern, but you may not sell or republish the pattern. Thanks, and enjoy!

Faded Memories Snowflake Instructions
Make magic ring.

Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in same ch as sl st, 2 dc in each dc around for a total of 24 dc.
Round 3: [Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 3, sl st in each of next 2 dc] 6 times, omitting last sl st of final repeat.

Round 4: [Ch 2, sl st in 3rd ch of next ch 3, ch 2, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 2, sl st in 1st ch of next ch 3, sl st between next 2 sl st] 6 times.
Round 5: [Ch 4, 1 sc in 3rd ch of next Round 4 ch 2, ch 5, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 5, 1 sc in 1st ch of next Round 4 ch 2, ch 4, sl st over next joint sl st] 6 times.
Round 6: Ch 2, 1 fptrtr (front post trtr) around post of Round 1 dc directly below current joint between spokes, [ch 2, 5 sc in next Round 5 ch 5 sp, ch 5, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 5, 5 sc in next Round 5 ch 5 sp, ch 2, sk next Round 1 dc, 1 fptrtr around post of next Round 1 dc] 6 times, omitting last fptrtr of final repeat; sl st around top of next fptrtr post.
NOTE: Save some thread (this pattern takes a LOT!) and bind off here for a cute little snowflake.
Round 7: Ch 5 (counts as 1 fptr and [ch 2), 5 sc in next Round 6 ch 5 sp, ch 5, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 5, 5 sc in next Round 6 ch 5 sp, ch 2, 1 fptr around post of next fptr] 6 times, omitting last fptr of final repeat; sl st around starting ch 5.
Round 8: Ch 6 (counts as 1 fptr and [ch 3), 5 sc in next Round 7 ch 5 sp, ch 5, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 5, 5 sc in next Round 7 ch 5 sp, ch 3, 1 fptr around post of next fptr] 6 times, omitting last fptr of final repeat; sl st around starting ch 6.
Round 9: Ch 7 (counts as 1 fptr and [ch 4), 5 sc in next Round 8 ch 5 sp, ch 5, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 5, 5 sc in next Round 8 ch 5 sp, ch 4, 1 fptr around post of next fptr] 6 times, omitting last fptr of final repeat; sl st around starting ch 7.
Round 10: Ch 8 (counts as 1 fptr and [ch 5), 5 sc in next Round 9 ch 5 sp, ch 5, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 5, 5 sc in next Round 9 ch 5 sp, ch 5, 1 fptr around post of next fptr] 6 times, omitting last fptr of final repeat; sl st around starting ch 8.
Round 11: Ch 9 (counts as 1 fptr and [ch 6), 5 sc in next Round 10 ch 5 sp, ch 5, 1 dc in each of next 4 dc, ch 5, 5 sc in next Round 10 ch 5 sp, ch 6, 1 fptr around post of next fptr] 6 times, omitting last fptr of final repeat; sl st around starting ch 9; bind off. Weave in ends.
You may see another rendition of this snowflake in the future because I think I'd like to try fpdc instead of fptr on Rounds 7 through 11, and I like the tips I worked on my final rendition for today's pattern better than the plain old ch 5 tips. For my September teal version of today's snowflake, I worked ch 3, 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook on the first ch 5 tip on each spoke and ch 3, 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook on the second ch 5 tip of each spoke.
Finish: Tape wax paper or plastic wrap to top of empty pizza box. Pin snowflake to box on top of wax paper or plastic wrap.
If using glue, mix a few drops of water with a teaspoon of glue in small washable container. Paint snowflake with glue mixture or desired stiffener. Sprinkle lightly with glitter. Wash paintbrush and container thoroughly. Allow snowflake to dry at least 24 hours. Remove pins. Gently peel snowflake from wax paper or plastic wrap. Attach 10-inch clear thread to one spoke, weaving in end. Wrap fishing line around tree branch (or tape to ceiling or any overhead surface) and watch snowflake twirl freely whenever you walk by! Snowflake also may be taped to window or tied to doorknob or cabinet handle.
